List at £17.00 to keep 50% of the price.
The buyer pays about £26.05 to £27.80 for a £25.00 item, est. Vinted's price list puts its Buyer Protection fee at "usually 3% to 8% + £0.30 to £0.80", so it's a range, not a single figure.
How the calculator works
Profit is the sale price minus everything the item cost you: what you paid for it, any postage you covered, packaging, promotion and anything else you spent on it. On Vinted, private sellers in the UK don't pay a selling fee. The buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee on top of your price, so it never comes out of your profit.
Break-even price is the lowest price that doesn't lose money: your total costs. Before you accept a low offer, check it's above this.
Price for a target margin works backwards: divide your costs by (1 − margin). For £10 of costs and a 50% margin, that's £10 ÷ 0.5 = £20.
Questions
Does Vinted take a cut of my sale?
Not from a private seller in the UK. Vinted charges the buyer a Buyer Protection fee on top of your price, so the price you set is what you receive. Paid extras you choose to buy, such as Bumps, are your costs and belong in this calculator.
Who pays postage on Vinted?
Normally the buyer, at checkout. Only add postage here if you paid it yourself, for example when you offered to cover it or had to resend a parcel.
What's the difference between margin and return on cost?
Margin is profit as a share of the sale price: £15 profit on a £25 sale is a 60% margin. Return on cost is profit as a share of what you paid for the item: £15 profit on an £8 buy is 188%. Margin tells you how much of each sale you keep; return on cost tells you how hard your buying money is working.
Is this my taxable profit?
Not necessarily. Tax depends on whether you're trading and on your totals for the tax year, not on one item. The free Vinted tax checker walks through the rules.
